Jeg tror på Gud.
Min tro skyldes en slags ”gudsbevis” der hænger sammen med min naturvidenskabelige uddannelse hvor begrebet kausalitet spiller en rolle: at enhver virkning har en årsag. Men enhver årsag er samtidig en virkning der hidrører fra en tidligere årsag. Sådan fremkommer en lang række af årsager og virkninger, som beskriver historiens forløb.
Men hvor lang er denne kæde af årsager og virkninger? Bibelen siger selv at ”i begyndelsen skabte Gud himlen og jorden”, og i kosmologien arbejder man med teorien om ”The Big Bang”, hvor hele universet blev skabt for ca. 14 milliarder år siden. Der er altså grund til at tro, at kæden af årsager og virkninger ikke er uendelig lang, men har en begyndelse. Men hvad er da den første årsag, den årsag der ikke samtidig er virkningen af en tidligere årsag?
Denne første årsag unddrager sig ifølge sagens natur enhver fysisk forklaring, og jeg har valgt at tro at det var Gud der greb ind.
Men jeg tvivler på det gamle testamente.
Den første sætning i Bibelen er i princippet korrekt. Der var en begyndelse. Men sammenholder man indholdet i sætningen med hvad kosmologien og astronomien fortæller os, så er det en meget forenklet verden Bibelen beskriver. Måske kan man ikke bebrejde forfatterne af 1. Mosebog noget. Verdensbilledet på den tid hvor 1. Mosebog blev nedskrevet, var formentlig påvirket af Aristoteles, der i sin bog Om Himlen fra 340 f.Kr. beviser at jorden må være en kugle. Aristoteles ser jorden som universets centrum, et ubevægeligt punkt hvorom solen, månen og planeterne bevæger sig i cirkulære baner. Det er sådan et univers der beskrives i 1. Mosebog.
Men sådan er det jo ikke i virkeligheden. Det er langt mere kompliceret. Det univers der blev skabt ved Big Bang var rummet og tiden. Det er almindeligt anerkendt indenfor kosmologien at tiden opstod sammen med rummet. Einsteins almene relativitetsteori viser ganske klart at tiden er intimt forbundet med rummet, en slags fjerde rumdimension. Man kan også sige det på den måde at hvis tiden altid har eksisteret, hvordan kan det da være at Gud ventede i uendelig lang tid før han skabte rummet? Kan Gud overhovedet have ventet i uendelig lang tid? Det svimler for én.
Det sted hvorfra Gud udøver sin skaberkraft er derfor et mysterium, og vil altid være det. Dér er ingen tid og intet rum. For at kunne tale om det vil jeg kalde det Altet. Og den første sætning i Bibelen burde lyde:
I begyndelse skabte Gud tiden og rummet.
Denne opfattelse har imidlertid nogle implikationer, der griber ind i kirkens udførelse af gudstjenesten. Det hedder fx
Fadervor, du som er i himlen
men burde hedde
Fadervor, du som er i Altet
for det vil da være mærkeligt hvis Gud opholder sig i det rum han selv har skabt.
Eller tag et andet eksempel:
Én sand Gud fra evighed og til evighed
Det burde rettelig hedder
Én sand gud i al evighed
for tiden havde jo en begyndelse.
Der er sikkert også andre udsagn i liturgien, man kune overveje at korrigere, men det kræver jo nok et kirkeligt koncil for at få det gjort, så det har lange udsigter.

Matt 5v34 Men jeg siger jer: I må slet ikke sværge, hverken ved himlen, for den er Guds trone,
1 Kongebog 8v27 Bor Gud da på jorden? Nej, himlen og himlenes himmel kan ikke rumme dig; hvor meget mindre da dette hus, som jeg har bygget!
Så der ligger sådan set ikke det i det, at Gud bor i himlen, det er snarere noget skabt han virker i.
De bibelske evigheder er ikke så evige endda. De behøver ihvertfald ikke at være det;
Rom 16v25 Ham, som formår at styrke jer med mit evangelium og Jesu Kristi budskab, med åbenbaringen af den hemmelighed, der har været hyllet i tavshed i evige tider, v26 men som nu er bragt for dagen og gennem profetiske skrifter på den evige Guds befaling gjort kendt for alle folkeslag for at føre dem til troslydighed — v27 ham, den eneste, vise Gud være ære ved Jesus Kristus til evig tid! Amen.

Den forvirring du oplever med biblens ord er netop et godt billede på hvor ubrugelig biblen er.
Biblen er skrevet at et ørkenfolk, der havde en meget begrænset viden ang. verden og dens historie. De har ikke haft muligheder for at studere i et mikroskop, eller udregne via en computer, eller have et helt forskerteam der undersøger et enkelt udsnit af dna. Et 10 årigt barn ved mere om naturvidenskab en disse lærde mænd vidste. De kendte ikke Australien, bæltedyr, indianere, kænguruer. Det skal man ikke bebrejde dem. Man kan derimod bebrejde mennesker der idag forsøger at få biblens ord og moral til at give mening i dag.
Biblen kan sige en masse om hvordan folk levede dengang, deres moral og myter. At tage det for mere end det, er simpelt hen overfortolkning og fører kun urimelige krav med sig. Mange af de moralske historier fra bibelen er jo horrible, og komplet uanvendelige i dag.
Problemet er at de religiøse “billeder” er utrolig svære at gøre nutidige, og de kolliderer med den moderne verdens oplysning, du selv har lært i skolen.
Det er bl.a. derfor det altid bliver så pinligt for religiøse mennesker, når ateister beder at konkretisere hvad der helt bogstaveligt menes med deres opfattelse af, hvad der former livet.
Det får de fleste religiøse til at vride sig og undslå spørgsmålene.
Nu er du selv igang, og jeg ønsker dig pøj pøj med din undren. Det er nemlig den vej vi skal gå for at forstå os selv og vores baggrund.

Det er endog meget vanskeligt for Genesis at være påvirket af Aristoteles. De ældste dele af Genesis er sandsynligvis nedskrevet omkring 1400 f.Kr, og selve beretningerne stammer most likely fra omkring 2.000 f.Kr.
